I graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1985 with a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) and completed an M.Phil. and D.Phil. in Economics at the University of Oxford (conferred 1996). I spent ten years in the Research Department of the Reserve Bank of Australia before joining the University of Dundee School of Business in August 1996 as Professor of International Business and Deputy Dean. While at Dundee I also served as Academic Lead for New Programmes, Director of Programmes and Global Engagement, and Associate Dean (Admissions and Student Recruitment) for the School of Social Sciences. I retired in September 2026 and was appointed Emeritus Professor. My primary teaching and research interests are macroeconomics and finance. Since retiring I have been appointed Principal of Avaline School.
